Trouble with tranny downshifting to first
After a complete transmission rebuild at a reputable shop about 12,000 miles ago, my '98 Dodge 3500 has a tendency to stall out after it's warmed up when you pull up to a stop, acts like it doesn't shift down from second to first. I have to keep one foot on the brake and the other on the gas pedal to keep it running. Any idea's on the problem? Or, can anyone tell me how to increase the idle speed up to about 7,500 in park idle? That might get me by until I can sell the truck.

You might post this in the 2nd or 3rd gen section for the idle question. If its not downshifting, take it back to the shop and tell them its not right, or was it working fine and this is something recent.?

I've heard of this happening when the idle is too low. I'd adjust the idle first and see if that helps.

That has the specs (750-800 idle in drive with AC on) and the process to adjust it.
