Triple dog changes settings driving up grades

So I just noticed this the past couple days. When going up a hill while giving the throttle a little push, my triple dog will switch settings from extreme, to performance, all the way to stock. Then once i my foot is off the gas it goes back to normal.

Is this the pyro limit defuel thing kicking in? i have hit higher pyro numbers before without dropping the tuner down?

Whats up?

I have the same program you have and the worst i have seen mine do is go from peak preformance to towing when pulling a big hill (not towing anything) I have asked my Dealer about it and sent a email to BD but i have not gotten a responce from eather one of them. I have not seen mine drop from Peak preformance all the way down to stock.

Do you run your BD in Xtream all the time?

I dont run it in xtreme all the time. I usually run it on towing. I guess i will just live with it.

What setting have you seen best mileage with?

i run mine in Peak Preformance most of the time I have seen 14.5 in the city and 21 on the highway running at 70 on the hightway and 30 in the city. That is also with everything in my sig. The only time i put in Xtream is when i go to pass or just showing off.

What have you seen in towing?

I havent got the chance to tow anything yet, The previous owner said he got 14 mpg hwy towing his jeep on a single axle trailer. Not sure the total weight.

I got 17.5 hwy not towing with cruise set at 75 with no stops for a whole tank.
I just filled up today and only got 13.5, but that is half city, and half showing it off to all my teammates on the highway.

Next chance I get to take a road trip, i am going to test my mileage going 65.

I dont get much time off for road trips being at the Coast Guard Academy.

I dont do a bunch of towing so i could not tell you what the miledge would be like. Do you have a cold air intake on your truck? if not that might get you closer to the 20 MPG mark

That would be cool. I have been looking for a SRT10 dodge truck hood that is steel and just cuting out the plastic pice. Have not found one yet that is a good price and i dont want to buy a insert.

Have you gotten any more info on why the BD outlook does what it does?

Check some of the other defuel limits too. Maybe the trans temp or coolant temp defuel is too low by accident.

My pyro defuel temp is set low, but i have hit it a bunch. My water temp has been at about 210, and it has only been like 75 degrees out. I dont have a trans temp gauge. I guess I will go through and figure out what my defuel set points are.

Doesn't your outlook monitor pick up that info (trans temp & coolant temp) from the ALDL? It does on my 2006. There's defuel limits in my outlook for all of them too. No pyros needed except for EGTs at manifold.

Yeah. I didnt think my outlook picked up trans temp, but it has a different setting for the 06 model. I will have to check it out. I have the EGTs reading.

So i played close attention to my EGTs today. I think they seem high.

So the first thing i noticed was that I hit 1400 degrees when i was on "flat ground". I was accelerating from 45-70. I had my triple dog on extreme. I am running the tune that bully dog updated me too from their program.

Then I had my tune on towing. I was on "flat ground" with cruise control set at 70 and my EGTs were at 860 degrees.

Then when with cruise control at 70 and triple dog on towing going over a relatively big bridge it hit 1270 on the north bound side, and only 1070 going southbound on it. I dont think the south bound is as steep.

But then I had the same setting as above and was going up what i would consider a relatively small hill and it hit 1300 degrees.

I put my pyro about 4 inches post turbo and i am picking up my readings from my outlook monitor.

I know the 37 inch tires will increase the EGTs a little. But i just want to make sure this is normal. What do yall think?

Oh and my coolant was at 207 and I can not pick up trans temp on my outlook.
