TREATED MYSELF TO AN HO 6 SPEED!
i have been complaining for 6 months to dodge about my 03 2500 so with the 47re.i was really mad after i got mine to see a 48re available.my buddy bought one.oh well.my truck along with others having the 47re and some 48 were having the noise when the thing hits od-a major rattling noise at 40-45 mph.it was driving me crazy.it went into dodge 5 times.they said it was normal-the wastegate.sounded more like it was WASTED.yesterday i drove a new ho 6 speed.the dealer i originally bought my truck from made me a great deal-i feel.i did take it a bit on my trade-but did have 17,000 miles on it,slt 47re so,anti spin, trailer tow.THE NEW TRUCK I BOUGHT-2003 2500 HO 6 SPEED,SLT,TRAILER MIRRORS,ANTI-SPIN,TRAILER TOW,POWER SEAT,STORAGE UNDER FRONT SEAT AND SPLIT BACK,KEYLESS ENTRY,BODY SIDE MOULDINGS-$30,500.00.MAN THE 03'S HAVE GREAT INCENTIVES NOW-$2500.00 REBATE.I DO LIKE REAR HEADRESTS ON THE 04'S BUT DONT THINK THAT WAS WORTH ANOTHER $3000.00 OR SO.I DO LOVE THIS NEW 6 SPEED-AND NO MORE WASTEGATE NOISE.THAT ALONE WAS WELL WORTH IT TO ME.

Good choice.
Don't feel too bad about the money. A few years ago I traded from an auto to a manual with only 5K on the odometer. You only think about the lost money for a short time but you get enjoyment from your new truck every day. If you had kept the automatic, every day you would have been upset with your old truck and your mistake in buying it.

The six speed has a nice range in the gearing. I know you will like it. Congrats.

Congrats on the HO/6spd. You now have the best combination in a pickup!!!!! I told you driving a CTD with an auto was like driving a garbage truck.. :P

Congrats. Fortunately I don't have any issues with my 47RE. I would've prefered a 6spd, but the auto was all that was on the lot. I love the thing. Dropped too much money on add-ons to even think of trading this beast in....

I have the same drive and haul a large and heavy trailer. The gearing is perfect! No need to rev the engine when backing heavy loads or taking off because there is so much torque at idle. You will be pleased.
