Transmission upgrades or complete valve body ?

I am contemplating doing few upgrades to my transmission to reduce "hunting" between gears.

There are few kits which include governor solenoid, transducer, etc. It all adds up to approx $ 250 shipped to my door.

While browsing Suncoast web site I saw they sell a standard Valve Body for $ 485 which I assume includes all the upgrades PLUS few other enhancements.

Isn't it a better way to go by replacing the whole VB for just $ 200 more instead than few parts ?

Get the Valve body and then save for a torque converter. I had a transgo shift kit, the VB is the way to go.

who makes an aftermarket valve body and can you explain why it is better than factory. I have 2 new solenoids, just need to install but I too would like to make the transmission stronger since have 165K and I tow 15K lbs.

No its not. Too many times you get a 47RE VB instead of a 48 and the issues start. They are never the same on different trucks and will drive you nuts trying to fix them.

Its your money but less than $100 for the shift kit and $100-$150 to install is still better than what a "custom" VB is. You get the same thing for half the price if you don't need any custom items.

Take the money you save on a VB and address the rest of the issues.

Ok, thanks N6ON, this makes sense.

I actually read the description on DTT site and it doesn't mention to have the upgrade. A more expensive VB has it included.

What's the best place to get the transducer and governor solenoid ?
