Alright guys I am going to the bank tomorrow to borrow some money to build me a transmisison since mine just went out. It gave me no warning it just lost pressure. I am hoping to get around $4000-$4500. By looking at my signature and wanting to add atleast 100-200hp more in the future what all do you suggest I do to it. I would like to be able to hook to a sled acouple times this summer...I will be doing it myself..I have talked to HTS....DTT...and Goerend.

When I shopped around for mine I decided I would get the best bang for my buck with Goerend. Dave will not try to over sell you. Talk to him again, tell him your planned HP and what you do/plan to do with the truck, and let him recommend what you need. If it comes up to more than what you have to spend, you need to either get more money or re think what you are wanting to do.

Thanks Tray, I never did talk to him YET...I talked to one of the ladies there, but he called me Saturday and I missed the call, I tried again to talk to him Yesterday and he wasn't there....I am not in a huge hurry so I am trying to get all the info I can from everyone...I am kind of ignorant to the auto, I am a good mechanic just never built an auto. How about the internal like clutches to the all use basically the same brands...and what brands are there...

I did the same thing with Terry at Moonlight diesel. Called him up told him all the facts/wants/needs. Now I have a DTT thats ready for all I do with it and whatever I'll need it to do in the future. I Couldnt be happier with it.

Go with goerend. He cant be beat for customer service and warranty. He is a little hard to get ahold of sometimes, but it is because he is so busy, and does much of the work himself.

If i were you, I would go with the full built transmission/triple disc converter, billet input, and laminated flexplate.

I had the same problem getting Dave on the phone, but when you get him he'll give you all the info you need. I took my truck from Cincinnati to him and got the full treatment.... It never pulled better and has over 40K on his tranny.

Dave called me tonight and I beleive thats were I am getting my tranny, I am taking the weekend to do some more research and think it over,But I got the money from the bank so I beleive Monday morning I will make the order...thanks for your info guys.....

I have Dave building me a tranny right now (well maybe,LOL). First full week of July I will be heading to him to get mine R&R'ed. Be over 13 hour drive but that's alright, granted my stock tranny gets me there, haha. I ordered his built tranny, and billet input shaft.

He was hard to get a hold of sometimes, but in my opinion it's worth the wait. There are a lot of people running his trannies and are more than happy with them. And if their not, Dave goes out of his way to make sure those people are happy.

I ordered a valve body kit and triple disc converter from Dave 40k ago. My lil EZ and RV275's were putting a hurtin on my 01's stock converter. I have a couple spare 47RE's so I built one up using his suggestions for my mild mods. On the recommendation of a few other "do it yourselfers" here I called Dave. I wanted a reliable "tow" trans, not a stoplight racer, and he was more than happy to help me out.

I was impressed enough to turn a few other "good" customers on to him and we've installed three of his units. They have all lived up to thier expectations. One was looking down the barrel of his second overhaul in two years......he's now logged two years of trouble free RV'ing and this fall when he made his pilgrimage to the sunny south the fluid looked like new. He's pulling around 18k with a 99.

Another one had some pretty big engine mods (04 common rail) that were done at a dealer of that product that included a (red) torque converter and valve body. The torque converter failed twice within a year and he was about to rid himself of the truck. Had him call Dave and he bought a fully upgraded trans. He has yet to break that one and loves how it tows.

I'm sure there are lots of good builders, but Dave G gets my business.

I spoke with dusty hawk from HTS today on a full built tranny for my 2004 with 48re,around $3700.
