Transmission/Smarty Question ?
I have decided to get a Georend transmission built after Christmas. I have been running a Smarty Jr on Sw 1, 2, 3 depending on what i have been towing. I was running TM 4, TQ 4 and was having a issue with the OD gear lugging and having what i think is a slip then turbo bark occuring.
Through the forum i was told to go to nothing more than TM2, TQ2 which toned the issue down somewhat. I went back to stock Smarty TQ and still have this issue on grades with either the 40hp or 70 hp tune.
I know some said this happens because you have more power and press the throttle less than before which does not build enough line pressure to shift down a gear when it is needed. I have a feeling my tranny is slowly going south. Will i have this problem with a built tranny or is this a shot transmission issue ? Just curious ?

More then likely it is the Torque Converter lockup clutch slipping. As long as you haven't stayed in it to long you should be fine. Mine did the same thing with a Quad Std. box on level 1. When pulling a hill at 60 MPH was when it showed up. I just backed out of the throttle to where it didn't slip anymore. This only happened less the 5 times. Had all the Goerend work done not long after. Been running great ever since. You should be fine.

I put it back to stock sw and the problem is gone. Not ideal for now. I will just keep from lugging it until i can get the Georend installed. It just seems to hold the O/D too long with the extra smarty power (less throttle for same power). Must be the manual tranny cable causing it not to shift when it needs to.
