Transmission Scare!

Oh boy, I have had the truck 4 years now and besides the Tc unlocking issue, havent had a tranny problem. Last weekend, we were pulling in for gas, so i do the normal and come to a slow stop, and after completely stopping and putting it in park, i get this clunk, which my passenger even noticed. It was like putting it in reverse with a bit of throttle kinda clunk. I figured, maybe we were on a bit of a hill. So, tonight, im pulling in to pick up some sushi, and come to a complete stop, throw it in park and clunk again....Any ideas. I know if i go to a tranny shop, i will get put through the ringer.... P.S. When i did a tranny fluid change 4 months ago, my mechanic friend said my fluid was abnormally black.....

I would tighten your bands to spec. and double check the line pressure. It could also be a valve body issue with charging the torque converter.

Several things I see in your post.

One you didn't mention a fluid/filter change on the trans. When was the last one?

Two, we don't stop for gas, it is diesel!

Three, sushi??? ( try beer and burgers)

Four, how are the u-joints?

Haha, i was following my GF in her truck, she needed gas (not me) , Also, when, we found the black fluid, we did a tranny fluid and filter change. Its like stopping completely, putting it in park and then a "clunk"
