Transmission question
I have a mopar reman 47RH with zero miles on it sitting in my shed that I got for a 94 2wd that I used to own. I have since gotten rid of the 94 and am wondering if some of the pieces from that would work in my 97 47RE if it should fail. My 97 is 4 wheel drive so I know the overdrive unit will not work (but maybe the guts will) and if I remember right the case and valve body's are both different but what about the hard parts and converter? Reason I am asking is we just bought a house and I am debating with myself whether or not to make a spot for the thing of if it's time to sell or trade it off. The 97 is doing great but is getting close to 200k on what I think is a stock tranny so I think it may be time to start preparing for the inevitable.....any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. ooops, just realized I parked this thing in the wrong spot...should have gone over into the drivetrain area.....doggon morning brain fog.

The converter is the same, the VB is different. Depending on your technical/mechanical skills and ability, you could take the RH apart and use a bunch of the parts in the RE. The RH has the mechanical governor, the RE is electric. the input and intermediate shafts will be the same. The output is different, the RH has the small hole in the case for the electronics, the RE has the larrger hole due to more wires in the connector to the VB. The pump and the drums are the same. If you have an early RH it might have the single wrap rear band, you don't want that, the RE has the triple wrap rear band.
If you were closer I would trade you an RE for your RH.

Go ahead and sell it. Parts needed in rebuild generally, not hard to find. Sometimes is difficult to determine parts differences and could cause extensive diagnois time if incorrect part used.
