Transmission Question??
I scheduled an appointment with the local Dodge Dealership to have my transmission serviced on my 06 Man Van, (48re). They offered the standard flush, which I anticipated, then said that they can also drop the pan, change the filter and get this, ADJUST THE BANDS. Now, I might be wrong, so here is the question. I thought that the 4 speed in my truck was solenoid activated and did not have bands in it at all? Am I correct in this statement.

I have an '06 3500 5.9. Over the last few days I have noticed the transmission occasionally doesn't seem to want to upshift normally. It hesitates, requiring a higher than usual engine RPM to encourage the upshift. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

You don't need it flushed unless you burnt the fluid. Just have them drop the pan install a new filter and refill it, about 6.5 qts of ATF. Every time the trans is serviced, install a new filter they cost $20. or less an its a requirement, but you don't need the bands adjusted at every service. I've had Dodge service managers agree band adjustment is not needed at service unless its slipping.
