transmission problems

I left on friday to go to juction. About a two hour drive. While i was there i drove around the place with the truck ideling pressed the gas when i had to. We left today and i noticed that my truck was starting out i 2nd gear RPMS about 1500 just to get it going. I tried to manuely to shift it into first and it wouldent kick down into first. Well i stopped at a gas station and went back out to start my truck and it wouldent start. Tried a few times dident work so i played with the colume shift, it is a auto, tried to start it again and it fired up. now that i am back home the truck will sometimes start out in first and somtimes not but i can manuely shift it down and it works. Sometimes when it starts out in second i can feel it try to shift down and shift right back to second.Any help would be apprieciated

Gov. pressure selenoid.

I had the same thing happen to mine at 40K miles. Instead of just replacing the part, the dealer installed a whole new valve body.

I'm not sure on the not starting thing, but the not shifting down or starting out in first thing should be that selenoid.

Do a search on the topic, I have seen several threads on it.

I believe it is just to the side of the valve body (not sure) I was skeert to work on it when mine acted up. I think you are only talking about less than $90.00 in parts, the whole valve body will run you $400. (or $600 for a STOCK one if you are me)

You can check for codes by cycling the ignition key from off to on for 3 times.- the codes will be shown in the odometer window.

There is a switch (solonoid) and a sensor.

99% of the time, they are replaced as a pair.

disconnect the positive battery cables from both batteries for a few minutes and then reconnect them. drive the truck and see if the codes return. yes, you have to clear the codes.
