Transmission plastic couplings?
Hi Everyone,
I am climbing around my 98 12valve automatic looking for the transmission cooler line plastic couplings that fail.
All my connectors (at the tranny, antifreeze/t fluid heat xchanger, up to the cooler) seem to be the normal compression connectors I have been used to seeing for years?
Did these connectors apply to the 98, or were they changed at the factory prior to?
One note, there are adapters at the tranny that go from pipe to the 1/2 inch compression fitting, this seems normal to me, but the adapter most likely has a 3/8" hole for fluid, and then adapts to 1/2" lines, seems pretty odd to restrict the flow then open it up again? just a note.
Thanks for any help
Cheers
brian

I had a 94 that had the recall done on that, the lines was steel but the couplings had plastic parts in side that would melt when over heated, i looked at them and was wondering why did they make it that way(cheaper) , the new lines that was installed had steel holders in side the couplings , other wise it looked the same
