Transmission, overdrive, drive shaft aligement problems

The truck is a 03, 2500 diesel. I seem to have a aligement problem with the transmission dand drive line. The truck is 5 Mo.old and has 11,000 miles the problem started at 6000 miles both miles are Approx.
First problem was a cracked overdrive houseing, this was replaced. three weeks later same thing this time the dealer replaced transmission, overdrive section and drive shaft which was out of balance, one week later the output shaft seal on a the new unit has developed a leak.

I,ve been told by a few people that it should have a 1/2" spaceer at the center support bracket , so that the angle od drop would be less. the dealer told me this is only needed if the truck is raised. I went under the truck last night and the second section of the drive shaft does not appear to be in line with the first section. It seems to angle off toward the drivers side by about 1/2", I will need to measure to make sure of this, Could this shift to the right and the drop from the center support cause stress on the U-Joint at the connection to the overdrive unit.

I also have a viberation between 75 and 80 MPH, dont know it this is part of the problem or not. I am at a loss as to what the problem is. I beleive that the dealer is also.

Would like to know if any one else has had these problems

Thanks

Re:Transmission, overdrive, drive shaft aligement problems

I have a vibration, so I have been eyeballing things under my truck. First thing I noticed was lack of any kind of paint on the driveshafts. Cheap builders, why let a driveline rust.
Anyways I just eyeballed the driveline angles for now. I didn't notice anything that looked out of place. Very soon I'm going to get out the angle finder and do the math and find out what they do have the angles set at.
I know you don't want the angles to be perfectly straight, this will cause a vibration, believe it or not. As far as running of to the side like I think I understand what your saying. I know hard hitting high power drag cars will break the transmission with an angle like you describe. But on the other hand a Ford 9" has the pinion located off center, all those Fords made in many miles without a trans breaking.
I certainly feel you probally have some kind of harmonics causing your failures. 90 percent of the time, when I find a leaking seal or bad bearings in the big trucks I work on, I find a bad u-joint at the same location.
I know I was not much help to you. Just giving my opinions.
If you happen along the cause, alot of poeple would like to know.

If you think your getting driveline vibs, take a good read over at Tom Wood's driveshaft site.
