Transmission OUT! 2007 5.9L
Well, I traded my Ford from a lemon law last year, bought a new 07 mega with the 5.9L.
Today, I was getting ready to pull a small load of mulch on a trailer through my yard. I put it in 4High since the back of my yard is a steep hill. I was in the grass, level surface. The truck went into 4high, I put it in drive and started off....I got approx. 5 feet and a loud thud came from the transmission.
Now, I have no gears, no reverse, etc... tow truck just picked it up to take it back to the dealership. 12500 miles on it.
I certainly hope this isnt the beginning of issues.... I am having nightmares about my Ford again ....
Thoughts???? Anyone else with transmission / tcase problems?

had the same thing with a buddy of mine. installed his tranny after rebuilding it and no gears at all looked down and the transfer case was in neutral worked fine after that. all though it could have been a fly wheel or shaft failure

^ More than likely ^ The transfer case. There are several TSB's for various electrical problems. Most have to do with the electronic shifting components. Good luck!

Your tranny is gone completely, probably exploded and is not rebuildable. On top of that DC will certainly void your warranty because it says in the owners manual on the very fist page: "NO SMALL LOADS FOR CTD"
As the others said - make them look at the t-case, that's the most likely problem.

I would have also looked at the t-case possibly being in neutral. If they don't full engage they pop out. Sometimes it is good to switch them in and out a couple times when new and not broken in. Sometimes it is just an adjustment. You'll know soon I'm sure. Even the manual lever t-cases can do the same thing if the are not fully secured with the lever.

I have the electronic shifter on the dash... I was in Neutral and put the truck in 4HI. Placed the truck in Drive and went approx. 3-4 feet with a bunch of clunking/grinding, etc. I stopped immediately.
I then took it out of 4wd. The truck moves no where...nothing. no reverse, no 4x4, etc ...... we'll see what the dealership says...I tried putting it in and out a few times...nothing.
Not a good day.

At 10k miles I had a 1ton chevy trans main output shaft snapped. I did a bunch a 4 wheelin early that day but I was on a flat sandy dirt road going about 5mph then nuthing, no bang, no noise, just no forward motion.
it took 3 weeks for the warrenty work.

They dont do that, even though MANY other manufacturers do, kinda sad really...
I threw the T-case thing out there as a first thing to check, and seeing as how you already tried switching to the other gears, im kinda stumped.
Hopefully theyll get it fixed soon, and its not a major issue.

I know that if you switch the transfer case back and forth too quick and too many times, it will sort of get confused. You either have to disconnect the battery or reset the transfer case module with a scanner to get it to move again. It could be a failed part or something else, but rest assures it's probably not a lemon!

UPDATE - The shop called me today and advised it was the "actuator" (spelling ?) for the transfer case....ordered the part today, should have my truck tomorrow afternoon.
I'm not a pro on transfer cases, so what is an actuator?
What could have caused this?
