Transmission oil

I have a 1999 24V five speed and need to know what kind of oil goes in the transmission? The gear box turned over on me and off the jack as I was putting to box back in and I lost almost all of my oil before I noticed it pouring out. For the man who thought I had a clutch problem, you were right, the pilot bearing wore out and the clutch plate was broken and springs flew everywhere when I unbolted the pressure plate. Thanks, please reply so I can get this thing on the road to Illinois. Sonny

Sonny, you need a heavier oil in the NV4500.

Castrol Syntorque 75w-90 is the spec fluid, but consider some Redline MT-90 (*NOT* the MTL) as well.

Stick with these two. The Castol is the safest, best all around bet.

You'll find a bunch of people like the synths. I like Amsoil 75-90.

It should say what type of fluid to put in, on the tag on the tranny Fill Plug Or Owners Manual.
If it's a NV4500 it came with synthetic from the factory.

Before you put put that same El Cheapo Mopar pilot needle bearing back in, check out Quad 4X4's sealed ball bearings at http://www.quad4x4.com/Dodge%20Engin..._Pilot_Bearing
Be sure you use the right Amsoil lube for that tranny...there's only one!
