transmission metal in pan.
Ok i was running good shifting good ... and when i got to my destination... ATF was running out under the truck.
My cooler line had been spliced with a cheap looking hose ... And this hose split.... So I got a ride for a new hose and added fluid 3 Quarts... felt a slight slip and added two more quarts... slowly drove a few miles and added three more quarts of fluid...
After all this my shifting is real weak... And i drop the pan found some metal shavings... looks like about a half a teaspoon worth... And its not magnetic.
What could this be???
is my converter bad???

Assuming you have the stock/OEM 727 or A518 transmission (don't know what year 1st gen you have), your transmission runs a NON lock-up torque converter. As such, it has NO clutch in the converter.
Are you positive the material is metal? The clutch-packs associated with each gear use steel discs between the clutch discs. The only non-magnetic metal in the trans is aluminum, that being the valve-body and the transmission case.
DOH! Rich done treed me!

you cant pull the pan of a 727, 518, 618, 904,500, with out finding some metal in the pan. transmission shop trade secret look your trany is on the way out time for a rebiuld. the aluminum comes from the plants and converters stator Ken

i have never pulled the pan on a torgue-flite that didnt have a small pile of metal in it. dont worry about it unless you see a thin layer over most of the pan. in 40 years i have pulled a fair share of those pans.
