Transmission help

Hello,
We have an 06 mega cab 4x4 auto transmission and when shifting into reverse it will indecate it is in reverse but will act like it is in nutral. If you wigle the arm it will go into reverse. Took it into the shop and they said there was no fluid showing on the dipstick (there are no leaks). It has been 13000 miles sence the last oil change ( it was a very bad year), and they are telling me that trany is bad. Two main questions,
A. Where did the fluid go, as there is nothing on the drive way.
B. What else could be causing this?

Your HELP is very much needed!!!!!

It sounds like the linkage is either out of adjustment or is bad, which explains the "wiggle it to go into reverse" problem.

As for the no fluid on the stick for the tranny ..... if you ran it that low it wouldn't work period because it would have failed by now. Did they check it with the engine running and warmed up, or just pull the stick after it sat overnight?

Honestly, I would take it somewhere else.

My guess is the "mechanic" pulled the oil dipstick. Find a new wrench

There is a switch on my 48re that the linkage activated and in turn lights up the gear indicator on the dash. I had a similar issue and the switch bracket was tweeked a little and issue was fixed.
I agree with HMX1, if you were that low it would not move the truck and very shortly make a lot of noise.
