??? transfer case or ? binding when turning
We got snow and ice today and needed to go down the highway about 25 miles, put the t case in 4x4 high and locked the hubs and headed out. Everything went fine, we got to our destination and left the slick stuff when entering a dry parking garage tried to turn into a parking slot (still in 4x4) and when turning the wheels, everything would bind up and no go, straighten up the wheels and the truck would roll free. Tried to shift out of 4x4 it won't shift unlocked the hubs and parked the truck no problem but still will not shift.
Anyone else had this problem and if so what was the diagnosis???
Thanks
Dan

My money is on front universals for the binding.
IDK about the no shift. If your hubs are out and your moving any it's hard to shift since it will grind. Easier to shift out when rolling and hubs are still in from my experience. Then pop the hubs out. Doing it while parked is a pita.

Sometimes its a pain to get it to disengage, you just have to keep working at it. The front 4x4 universals can bind up if not used once in a while too.
I would lock in the hubs again and while driving straight or even rolling within a short distanace, try to get it to shift out.

Thanks for the shifting ideas, I will give them a try later today. When the weather warms up I will pull the front axles and check the u-joints they seem tight just checking them in place and the 4x4 has not been used since last winter so they could be stiff, however no bind up on the slippery. I have had many different 4x4 rigs in the past and hard core 4x4ing in the bush but never this binding problem.
