well i get the fitting from genos and the sender screws in too far finger tight !!

all the way in but 2 threads and looks to block most of the opening creating a restriction !!

soo after runnin all over lookin at a bunch o combinations of fittins i had a plumbing supply order me a 3/8 x3/8 x 1/8 black iron T to install the sender !

with this it will be at the exact right spot in the fluid flow and the iron t is wider in that area so no restriction !

and if i want it in deeper i can run a tap in a few turns !

only prob is they only order once a mounth so i have to wait a couple weeks to get the fitting !!!!

o well what ya gona doo ?

has anyone else had this prob ?

Go to #14, this is a buddy of mine and this is how we did ours. Worked perfect, no problem. Other easy way is to order the entire line from Geno's as mentioned in this thread. Hope this helps...

Why wouldn't you install the sender in one of the 1/8th test ports in the trans instead of the line? I realize it installs in the hot line to the cooler but don't you get the same readings?

if you install it in a test port the fluid in say the servo is stagnet if you are running in say od and you have it in the port for front band servo you aint gona get a current fluid temp !

fluid only enters servo during shifting not a good idea !
in the pan would be better than a test port but still not the best to determin how hot fluid is being heated to during pulling as it goes through coolers before returning to pan !

Ok, thanks a million. Quadzilla recommends installing their sensor there, in which I did. The temp sender read 190 when towing last weekend and now I wonder if something is damaged. It still shifts hard and the same but now the sender does not start reading till 10 miles down the hwy. Thinking I'm going to move the sender to the cooler line what size is that T-fitting in the pic above? Thanks again as I really don't want pay/build a tranny.

You are probably seeing the delay since your sender is in the pan, plus a lot of the senderds don't read below 50*F so if it is chilly it has to come up to temp prior to reading. I know mine will only read down to 38*, at 37* outside, it doesn't read, but mine is in the hot line, so as soon as I put it in drive it warms above ambient temperature.

The commanders start reading @ 100deg, sender is in the test port as recommended by Quadzilla. After the temp reached the 190 deg mark I noticed the change in the delay of temp readings. Prior to... seemed to read ok. Not sure what to think but I'll move the sender as soon as I figure out what size t-fitting I need. 1/8th for the sender, but not sure about the trans line size. Thanks for the info!
