Trans Temp Heat red light
This just happened today. Any input would be great. Last night for about 2 seconds the red light came on and the Trans. Temp. light flashed and went off. Truck was cold as I just left. Nothing else. Today after about 40 miles. it did it again. It went into "tow-haul" with the red light. I read that the "Trans.Temp" is from over heating and to put into "N" and let cool. I checked the fulids and it was full but only luke warm. I'm thinking it might just be a senor going out.
I'm not towing anything just empty.
Any ideals???
Thanks

shifting fine? your torque converter drain back valve could be blocked? it is a spring and ball deal in one of the trans lines that allows the torque converter to keep fluid in it if you park the truck for a while... it doesnt allow the fluid to drain back into the pan. also how is your fluid?

Yes.... shifts fine. I need to change the fluid. It dosn't seem burnt. It's no longer bright red, more of a brownish red but NOT brown. It's over due so I'm going to change the fulid and filter tomorrow. Is there anything I should do when I open it up?
