Just got back from doing a trany service on the 93 w250. Just a simple filter change... until I droped the pan. In the bottom there seemed to be lots of debris and clutch material. NTM a bolt in the bottom of the pan which had rattled loose. Seems the bolt came from a flat grey plate with 5-6 samller torx bit heads on the driver side of the trans.

Also there was a small metal bar running from one side of the trans to the other on the back side of the valve body which was out of the hole on thepassenger side of the valve body. Replaces the bolt and put the bar back in place. The trans seems to be tight and the OD works now!!

Does anyone know the purpose of the bar and the plate. Could these things cause the OD not to work. Going to start to save up for a rebuild for the clutches seem to have lots of wear. Good thing no slippage as of yet!!!

The "bar" sounds like it was the boost valve tube.

The plate sounds like it was the shuttle valve cover.

The boost valve tube being off would cause a massive internal leak and low line pressure, it's a wonder the truck moved at all.

I'm starting to think this truck is a 3 speed. After the Overdrive working flawlessly, turn the truck off and no more OD!!! How fustrating.
