Right now I am using a Perma-Cool trans filter base, with a NAPA 1515 (WIX product) 22 micron spin on filter, as an external trans filter. A friend of mine had some old (new in wrapping) Zinga spin on filters laying around, which he let me have. These filters are 10 micron, and fit the Perma-Cool base. I can't make out the model # though, on the Zinga filters?
Anyway, I am wonderning if a 10 micron rating would provide too much filtration, and starve the trans of fluid?

Depends on how you have it plumbed. If it's straight thru (full-flow) you're gonna have to compare post-filter pressure before and after installation of the better filter, then keep an eye on it. The problem with the trans filter in that type setup is auto trans tend to produce generally larger debris in normal operation than say an engine or pump of some type, so they are likely to clog any given filter faster, all other things equal.

Thanks for the input! I think 10 micron will be a little to fine of filtration for my trans. I will stick with the 22 micron rated Wix filter I am currently using. I might throw the 10 micron filter on my old hyster fork lift.
