Trans downshifting and holding lower gears
Well I got my truck put back together after the transfer case explosion and now the tranny is acting odd. Every time I come to a stop, it downshifts right before the truck stops. It also seems to want to hold first and second gears longer than it used to. The had to replace one sensor on the transmission, The square one with the plug that has the single row of pins in it that is near the input for the shifter and throttle position. Any ideas on what is wrong with it? Thanks.

Sounds as if the Transducer was replaced on valve body? I generally recomend replacing both the gov press transducer and the gov pres solenoid at the same time. It is difficult to figure which. The trans temp sensor is included in transducer so should not be problem. That leaves a rpm sensor on extension to 4wd unit that can also screw things up. I have had success in some weird shifts by overfilling trans by one pint(no more) ATF + 4. Look for any wiring damage from transfer case replace!

My 04 was doing the same thing after a valve body and torque converter upgrade. Had to adjust the throttle valve cable to more slack---problem solved.
The adjustment is under the giant black plastic thingy at front driver side of engine with the APPS sensor.
Also there is a spring on the side of the transmission that keeps the throttle valve cable pulled slightly tight. Make sure the spring is there and pulling the correct direction. If the spring is pulling slack into the T/V cable it is backwards.

I will look at that spring, I noticed it last night but do not recall which way it was pulling. I checked all the wiring out and seems to look just fine. So the square shaped sensor is the transducer and the other one is the pres solenoid which must be where the round plug hooks in, is that right or not? Is there any place on the web that still has a service manual you can look at on line? Thanks guys
