Tranny temp. light

factory tranny temp. light
I was reading my owners manual and it shows a tranny over temp. indicator in the instrument cluster to the far left of the bed light indicator. Looking closely at the cluster, sure enough I could see a indicator symbol in that location. The book said for automatic trannys only. I've never seen it light up even when the ignition is turned on before going to start.
Does anyone know if this Indicator comes on if tranny temp. gets to high?
