Tranny Surprise help!

Doing my son's tranny oil change we found this in the pan.

Anyone know where it came from? What I have read so far is that it is from the O/D unit snap ring.

yeah it looks like it could be that there really isnt a ton of things it could be looks like part of a snap ring on the od unit. i would be taking the trans apart and getting it rebuilt!

Would you rebulid just the O/D unit or the whole tranny? Money wise and durability.

prolly the whole thing since it looks like it was smashed i would take a good look at all of the parts. shafts etc

Yea sounds about right. He is currently getting some quotes. We see what happens.
