tranny bang
towing my t/hauler 12,000/14,000lbs.
going up a incline o/D locked out, 7% grade tranny temp around 180.
out of No where Band sounds like i dropped my drive shaft, truck is still pulling but slipping.
I pull over get and get out and look, left truck running after a few seconds fluid is coming out of the TQ/housing temp well over 220 now. I turned the truck off and let it cool down. I am able to limp into the camp ground using 4/low. ( stonyford)
I notice when i unhooked the truck the tranny has no tQ stall, you have to hold the break, acting like a manuel trans stoping with out the clutch.
tranny fluid is burnt, I was able to limp the truck home with out the trailer, tranny acting weird all the way but it made it.
any suggestions.

as mentioned, you likely blew out the pump seal. Since it's under warranty, you'll likely have to go back with the same thing.
What apparently you need is a TC with more quality to it. A triple disk TC and some valve body work and you should be good for towing. Suncoast, Goerend, ATS, HTS to name a few quality places to get parts from. Ask your shop if you can warranty the trans for one of the above.

The B/D Tq I currently have is a triple disk, Moving forward thanks for the advise, just all a little scary when you have the family out on the road with you.I'am from the school of whatever it takes to get it right.

I bought a BD T/C and V/B also through Imler Diesel. No problems so far. Ken will take care of you. Did you get a V/B also w/ the T/C (I figured you did w the T/C, but you didn't state it)?

Tranny was locked,The amazing thing is, pulling the shifter from park to drive had know tention on it, like complete free play. I used the 4/ low to limp it up the rest of the way.
Do you think I need to have them go through the entire tranny, or just replace the TQ ??

You should have the whole tranny checked out. The clutches in the TC probably came apart and that material was sent throughout the rest of the tranny.

...I also pull a 14,000# toy hauler and am still on the stock 48RE -- looking at tranny mods to make it more reliable. Not encouraging that your built tranny blew up -- but then, I guess these things do happen.
btw - how far did you go in 4WD-LO? If I ever get stuck I might try that trick to get off the road at least.

sorry man, that thing is toast. I would agree that the pump seal may have blown or that the 1-2 lever strap broke. Sounds like its time to go through the guts of the tranny and upgrade the clutches. If you can't get it to Ken, we can take a look.
