Trailer plug pin 5 disaster

I have a 06 Mega Cab Diesel and noticed that both the left signal and brake light are not working. I tested the pin 5 and found no power. I could not find a fuse for this in the fuse box. Does anyone know were a fuse is or why pin 5 has no power?

The second part of my tale of woe is that I took out all the fuse from the box to check if any were blown. None were. When I went to start the truck again the ABS/Brake light were on and speedometer and the trip computer no longer works.

HELP!

06 and up have a tipm, some controller that wiring for the trailer runs through. A dealer trip for reset may be in your future. Maybe someone that has one will chime in and be more help.

A little hint....instead of pulling the fuses out of the fuse box to check them, just get a test light, clamp it to a good ground and touch the point to the ends of each fuse to check for voltage. You will see a little dot on top and bottom of the fuse. If there is voltage on top and not on bottom , then that fuse is bad. Saves pulling them out to inspect them. Hope I explained that clearly....

after you get it going the best thing to do is to make a isolator for the trailer plug i can send a crude drawing if you need one

At the time I did not have a test lamp or a voltage / resistance meter otherwise I would have used it. Would have saved me a lot of time.

The Truck was off so I did'nt thing that I could screw something up. Opps I was wrong.

Do you know of another way? I have not found a dealer that I think can be trusted. Can anyone suggest a mechanic in Vancouver BC?

Thanks for your help.

Can you explain a little further... Are suggesting a series of relays or fuses to isolate the trailer from the truck? Sounds interresting.

From what I gather from that TSB, you want to get the thing to a dealer for the reflash. The TIPM can only be reset a few times, then it has to be replaced. The reflash to prevent it from setting those codes needs to be done ASAP, if it can be.

Some folks have set up relays and/or fuses to protect the TIPM, which was supposed to protect the wiring...

They have a ready made isolator. It's called a Modulite. Do a search for it and you should find some dealers near you. Most trailer places keep them for vehicles that don't have tow packages.

Exclamation

I had it at the dealer and he told me that he could reset all the error codes except for U0121. Does any one know what that code is?

All the error codes are in the DTR-WIKI. Here's the one for U0121.
