Question Trailer Jack Questions

I have a 2001 Trails west Gooseneck with a Bulldog 12,000 lb Jack on it and the jack has recently started to act like it is binding when I lift the trailer. I pulled the top cap off and looked at all the gears and there are no stripped teeth and it is all greased up, then I extended the hitch all the way down and greased the worm gear but it still does it. So is there any way to save this jack, or does it need to be replaced? Thanks for the help. Dave

I'm not familiar with your particular jack but all tractor-trailers the general reason for binding seems to be the landing gear getting slightly bent (sometimes it takes a straight edge to see it) also I would suspect the thrust bearing on top of the screw part.
If it binds without a weight on it (Jack the trailer up with another Jack and run the gear up and down) is most probably bent. It doesn't take much.
Here again just my two cents worth.

my neighbor just went through this on his gooseneck brand cattle trailer and my WW 16' ranch trailer just started it also, it sometimes helps once you hit the tight spot to back it up 1/2 turn and then I could get about another 2 turns the way I wanted to go

ultimately mine seized up Friday and I put enough pressure on it it broke inside, you are right, it's not the top gears, they are lower, got a appointment to get a new 10k pound jack put on tomorrow

the only cure I know of is replacement

Well, I checked the landing gear and it's not bent so I suspect that the gears down low are going bad. Thanks for the input guys.
