Trailer Brakes Install
I have an 06 BigHorn Quad Cab (6 speed) and cannot figure out where the best spot to mount the trailer brakes would be. Anybody had this same problem? Where did you mount yours? Do you have pictures? I don't have a lot of room underneath me, and looking to do it in the section underneath stero...

That's where I did mine. Under the stereo stack just in front of the 4x4 shift lever close to my right leg. Just drilled a couple of holes in the removeable piece, mounted the controller and reassembled averything. Had to remove all of the center cupholder/ shift lever stuff to get the panel out.

Depening on the model brake controller you have, I mounted my Teconsha Voyager to the right of the parking brake.
It is a tight fit and my truck is an auto so I am not hitting the parking brake often, But you do have to be carefull when you do!
As far as the cubby hole, I filled that with my "go fast box" and my turbo timer!

What kind of controller you got?
I recently installed a Prodigy in mine (in the spot everyone is talking about) It came out real smooth, I recessed the harness clip so it sat back in there enough that I wouldn't hit my hand on it when shifting the transfer case.
A few minutes with the dremel, no sweat. It takes a good while to get the console all taken apart, other than that it is a pretty easy install.

installed mine in my 2007 in the cubby under the the a/c controlls. Carefully opened up the vertical inside left corner to fish wires thru. The prodigy squeeze fit in the cubby. Will be a snap to remove if ever need to.

I put my Prodigy directly above the accelerator pedal. There's a stock screw you can use for one side of the mounting bracket, and I drilled a small hole for the other side through which I looped a zip tie. Easy access to the hand for on-the-fly adjustments, and very non-intrusive.
But your question was where to put trailer brakes - I say put 'em on the trailer!
