Trailer brake problem

Ok, I just got my new 2010 Dodge RAM and I just hooked it up to the 5th wheel RV. When I step on the brake, the Dodge brake controller reports "Trailer disconnected". After you let off the brake, I get the message "Trailer Connected".

Now, I don't know if the other truck with the Prodigy(SP?) was doing this or not. That controller was down by my leg, and I didn't look at it that offend. Wife told me that the Prodigy did report an trailer disconnect at least once. So, I figure it more than likely is the trailer.

I did test the Dodge brake controller with a 12 volt light and a volt meter hooked up to the brake wire in the 7 pin plug and everything worked as expected.

So, I have to fix this tomorrow as I'm leaving on a trip Friday afternoon. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what is wrong. The error message does not help me much. Thanks Anthony

Maybe a little corrosion inside the plug, possible shot of WD40?
