Trade for CTD

I have owned 4 different dodge diesels over the past 10 years and seem to always get rid of them when diesel gets high and then end up buying a Chevy Z-71. Well I sold an 04 dodge diesel and bought an 04 Z-71. Now I want to get another dodge diesel so I've been trying to sell my Z-71 so I can buy one. The only problem is nobody wants to buy a 4x4 gas truck right now. So I found a guy who wants to trade his 01 2500 dodge diesel, auto, 4x4 for my Z-71 straight up. His was built by Robert Walker out of San Antonio, Texas who owns Mobile Diesel Performance. It has a full suncoast tranny, ported and polished heads, custom ground cam and an aftermarket turbo. It used to have twin turbos and he said it used to be one of the fastest diesels in San Antonio when it had twins. Do you think I'm foolish to trade a very clean 04 Z-71, 1500, 4 door with 65K miles for an 01 Dodge diesel 4x4 with all the add ons I said above for an even steven trade? Any and all opinions would be appreciated. Is it normal to have a little white smoke coming out of the oil fill cap and under the hood when its hot and idling?

I think the Chevy trades at a higher value (mostly due to age and mileage). I have 200K on my '01 CTD and have never seen any smoke of any type coming out of anywhere on the engine when it is running. Personally, anytime anyone says their truck was the fastest in town means it was rode hard and usually put up wet. I personally think that 200K road miles are about equal to 100K hard run miles. We know why you want to sell, but why does he want to sell what was once the "fastest truck in town"? I thought Barack was buying us all new trucks sometime soon, anyway. JM2C....

Fishing has been pretty hit or miss but overall I would say considering how the weather has been freezing cold and wind out of the north one day and switching to the Southeast and being 90 degrees the next its been decent. Does anybody know Robert Walker or have had any work done by Mobile Diesel Performance? Is there a way to get a hold of him? The guy is getting rid of it because his wife can't drive it when hes overseas because she can't see over the dash. I have heard that some smoke is normal and then I've heard that you shouldn't have any. So I'm not sure which one is acurate. Also the NADA value is higher on mine than his but here in South Texas those diesels sure do hold there value. Any input or comments are greatly appreciated.

around here a hi-mileage cummins beats a low mileage chev/dodge /ford gasser any day of the week, even if it was rode hard. its sounds like all the hi-dollar supporting mods have been done (ie tranny/turbo)and likely all the other stuff is done too, lift pump/track bar/programmer of some kind, if it looks good go for it, I personally dont have any issues buying a cummings if it has 300,000miles on it, (500,000miles is the rebuild life)

If the truck has a vacuum leak, it will appear to have blow by. Find a shop you trust and have them check it out. We know how these trucks handle mods, not sure why people would be scared to buy a modded truck. If the truck is stock, its all gonna be replaced anyhow . . .

"used to be don't matter." I know a fat, bitchy old lady that used to be one of the prettiest women around. Didn't get a chance to hit it then, wouldn't go near now.
