I have narrowed down my tire search to two tires of different sizes. The Toyo 285/75/17E and the Nitto Terra Grappler 305/70/17E. They are the exact same height and I do like the fact that the Toyos are narrower and lighter for a bit better MPG. They are also $40 cheaper per tire, which is quite a bit.
Id like to get some feedback on this. I currently have the 295/70 Nittos on my '06, so I know how they ride, but the Toyos would be completely new to me. Any info is appreciated.

Toyos are harder. That means better wear but less dry traction for those "closed course" drag race starts. I just bought a set of toyos that are going on as soon as the wife gets home with the lugnuts I left in the back seat of the car. My brother in law has had them on his for about 6 months and he loves them.

i love my toyo. i have 325/60/18. i got 11k on them and they are wearing great.

I have 305/70/17e on my 06 with a leveling kit on front. They are a very soft tire. On the job site a nail 12" from the tire will find its way in. I pull 10000 everyday so I only go with E rated. Are the Toys E rated that are cheaper? They look good but not sure if I would put them back on.

I've had the Nitto's on another diesel Dodge and put the Toyo in that size on my truck just this past Friday. Too early to tell but I like the Toyo's much, much better. Balance vastly better, roll and ride better and should last a lot longer. I am like you, didn't really want the extra width. The extra capacity with the Toyo is a plus as well.

Just got back from a quick test drive down the interstate with my new toyos. My initial feelings are that I will like them a lot. I went from a 315/70/17(35x12.5) D rated tire rated at 32xx pounds. They toyos I got are 285/75/18(35x11) E rated tires rated at 4080 pounds I thought they were gong to ride a lot rougher. They ride great. I put 70lbs in them (max is 80) and they seem to ride and handle well.

ive had a couple sets of toyo tires and thats what I run now. I like them alot

I just put a set of 285/75/17 Toyo's on my 03 & they are way better than the BFG's that came off of it.

The ride is super smooth & real good traction for an A/T tire.

The manager at Discount tire told me Toyo and Nitto are the same company. I didnt know that. So hopefully the Toyo is as good a tire as all the Nittos I have had over the years.

Yep, Nitto is a division of Toyo.

Can't speak for the Nitto's but I really like the Toyo Open Country AT's.

you have a picture of the new tires, thats what Im wanting to get, but havent really found anybody running them. And do you know what the actual measurements of them are.

Gonna try to get pictures today, but the weather is suppose to get nasty I think, so we'll see. Dimensions are suppose to be 34.8x11.3. The tires I took off were suppose to be 34.85x12.6. The tires a took off are worn, but not shot, and the toyos are about 1.5 inches taller. So I'm not sure if the ones I took off were short of if the toyos are tall - didn't try to do any measuring - I'll try to get that done today as well. I have then on an 8.5" rim with 5.22" backspacing with NO leveling kit and at full lock they just barely touch the mud flaps at the rear of the well. Drove it around and they never rubbed at all. Haven't pulled into a parking place yet though. I only have about 25 miles on them so far, but I like them. I'll start a new thread this afternoon if I get some pictures and I'll ahve a little more time on them too.

I had the Toyo M/T 38/15.50/18 on my 93 I thought they were the best tire ever. I ran many big tires (36 and greater) and these were the best by far,when I sold the truck they had almost 40K on them with 65%? tread left. Not to sure about the A/T, but when I do mine in a few months I am gonna do the toyo M/T 285/75/17. Thats my .02.
