Toyo M/T – Tread Wear/Tire Life
I’m looking to replace my OE BFG Rugged Trail T/A tires (dealer pull-off from an 04) with Toyo M/T in LT285/75R17.
What kind of life are people getting? The truck is a daily driver. Mostly freeway commute miles. 50,000 miles if I’m lucky?
Any advice on the 285/75R17 size? Last year I was going to get the 295/70R17. Looks like the 285/75 is a new offering. I think I would prefer the narrower look.
Thanks for any input

MT tire life is short loaded , not a good tire for hauling in my opinion . I haul about 10% off road 10% and car truck 80% and they should make 30,000 miles . The hauling took a lot out of them but for off road use they were very good and on highway they were ok . I really liked them in snow and mud , a great tire for this purpose , I will need to think about the AT's next time for a better wearing tire .

I when the Toyo M/T first came out they were getting rave reviews for out lasting other M/T tires. I saw several claims of 60k miles. Not true?

while i only have about 7500 miles on my 35's, they look like i just put them on yesterday. they ride better on the highway than any other m/t i've ever run, and if you run your psi on the high end and rotate regular,i can't see why you couldn't get 40,000 miles out of them

I have over 10k on my 295 M/T's and they look like new. I talked to a guy the other day at Schwabs and he has 52K on a set of M/T's and still hasn't replaced them, still has some tread left to wear out. My Son works at Schwabs and says many people get way over 40k with M/T's, you just have to rotate them often.
Rotate them every 2500 miles, that's what I was told to do. Cummins are heavy and really wear out the front tires fast.

I have ran a many of tires, everything from SuperSwampers to Bfg's to tell you the truth the best mudd terrain, high mile and even wearing tire that I have stuck with, is the Remington mudd brute. I had put 48,000 on the last set 33-12.50-16.5, I gave 648.00 mounted and balanced. I currently have 22,000 on this set still have over half tread they perform well. I dont know if it will cause any problems I know with the 3rd gens you have atleast 17 inch rims. I thought I would share.

I just spoke to a guy who returned from driving his '03 from San Diego to Honduras and back. Total mileage on tires was 19,000 miles he said(already on before trip). No rebalance, rotating,or flats the whole time. He had to air down to 6psi to escape a sand trap and no problem. These tires(35-12.50-17) looked like they'd go another 15,000 easy. I do wish Toyo would produce some more sizes in the M-55 configuration. It's a good compromise between AT and Mt.

I have nearly 30,000 miles on my BFG A/T KM's and they are right at half tread.
hoping to push about about 20,000 out of em this summer.
not sure if i'd buy em again or not.
they ride nice, great traction ice/snow/dirt/sand.
If i got a good deal i would, i might try the cooper STT's or Michelin LTX's next
