towing mirror backing plate for 98?
I ordered the backing plates today for my towing mirrors that I just got,
the problem is or is it.....the dealer said they only started to list in 01. I ordered them anyway assuming that they fit the 98-02 body style.
I used the Dealer part numbers: K55156128AC & K55156129AC for an 01
can anyone confirm this is correct?

Towing mirrors were available back in the day (I have them, factory), but they're different and kinda suck, IMO. They're A-frame style, and they can be flipped outward.
A quick Google image search turned up these. These are the ones my 3/4 ton have, but I always have them flipped inward:

I am looking at the Kool-vue towing mirrors power and heated. but they say there for the 99-01 rams I don't buy that I think they are from 94-02 2500/3500 trucks. I just what to make share that they fit my truck before I buy them.
Thanks

They will fit. The wiring may not connect if plugs are different between years though. I am thinking that would be more an issue on the 94-97 trucks than the 98-02.

From 94-97 there was no heat feature so you have to add a switch and relay for them. 98 -02 2500/3500 are plug-n-play if you already have power/heated mirrors.
If you have west coast mirrors like lgp9999 you may not be pre-wired like the SLT trucks.
If you have an 01-02 with non-power heated manual flip outs, you won't need the backer plates, but you may not be pre-wired if you do not have power windows and locks. You may also want to get a junk yard A/C control switch panel which has the heat button. Mine was around $75 and plugged right in.

I Done The Same Thing On My 98. I Ordered The 01 Backing Plates And Put The Power/heated Kool Vues On With No Problem. The 94-97 Trucks Have A Different Style Plug, But The Mirrors Will Still Fit The Same As The 98-02 Trucks.
