Towing effect on lift

I have a stock 2006 2500 CTD with the TRX4 package. I tow my 19ft bass boat about 75% of the time I am driving it. This is not a demanding load for the truck to pull (~5000 lbs). I carpool to work about 3-4 days a week and usually just leave my boat hooked up so that I can get home and go straight to the lake. When I am hooked up, it does drop the back end very slightly, in fact, I can't see the change but I figure it has to be putting some weight on the shocks and leaf springs.

My question is this: Does leaving the boat hooked up for days at a time have any effect on the shocks, leaf springs, or amount of lift the truck has? Over time, will the truck begin to sag or lower?

Just looking for some ideas and opinions, thanks guys.

MOst of these people who use there trucks, tow with them daily, leave weight on them daily. I tow a 20 foot trailer, and yes when I'm stopped for a long time will jack the nose up (about 1000lbs on the tongue) I do this when camping for a week, ect. so your light weight shouldn't do much. Plus driving it each day, your "working" the springs, much like the side wall of the tire flexes (this will help extend life) You should be fine if it only sits for a while. If you were gonna be there for more than a few days I'd say jack it up just to take off excess weight. All springs will sag with time, most so slow you'd never even notice it (I'm talking an inch or so in 10 years) Others use air bags or helper springs, this will help with the weight of the trailer, but still ride nice when empty.
