how to tow my truck?

I'll be moving from arkansas to wisconsin next week and may take a penske 26' truck and tow my 2500 behind it.
(I know sacrilidge right?) but anyway, if i decide to go that route how the heck would i tow my truck behind it? penske and uhaul both say no way, i'd have to ship it.

is that my only choice?

Why not just get a 26' cargo trailer?

I once towed my old Z28 behind a Piece of dung Penske and ended up smoking the brakes. I'd never tow anything behind those heaps of trash.

it's only about $400 to rent a 26' penske, and I haven't found a 26' rental trailer anywhere.
uhaul (which I hate to rent from) only has up to 6x12 or so

Yea, I understand those limited having been there myself. Have you checked out any other companies other than the standard options?

You could get a tow dolly, just make sure to put the transfer case in neutral so you don't ruin the tranny. I don't know if your tires will fit between the fenders.

If I recall, you have to have the transfer case in neutral and the tranny in park, and you can't have one end off and one end on, ie car dolly, must have either all wheels off the ground or on. No half and half. I used to be in the tow biz, but the Gen 3's came out when I got out of it so I don't know if anything has changed.

I would take the safe root and just take the drivshaft of the yoke and tie it up that way no problems no matter what.

I whached a buddy of mine put a 79 chezy pick up on 38x15s on a u haul dolly it was funny i think he bent the fenders wedging it in there. But he made it from the bottom of FL to VA

I think the question is not how to set up the truck to be towed, but rather is there any way other than renting a U-Haul or Penske to get the truck to its destination other than shipping it. Both companies said the weight of the Ram is too much to pull behind their moving trucks.

Thats what I heard as well.
Most of those rental trucks are only rated to 3-4k.
I would talk a friend into going with you, have him drive the truck, and then buy him a plane ticket home.

Or, park the Ram at an Arkansas airport and then fly back from Wisconsin to drive it home.

What part of Wisconsin are you moving to?
