tow capacity 2004 3500...
I have a 2004 Dodge 3500 Heavy Duty and I was looking for the sticker that said what the weight limits are for the truck and saw that for the bumper its 5000/500 and the receiver hitch is different than this. Does anyone know what it is or how to determine it?
Thanks,
Jeff

Without getting into a lenghty conversation as of actually how much you can tow. Try looking at the sticker on the driver side door. It will give you your GVCW.

The GCVWR is 21,000lbs if you 3.73 gears and 23,000 if you have 4.10 gears.
The GCVWR is the total weight of the truck, it's cargo, the trailer and it's cargo.
The GVWR is 9900lbs if you have a SRW 3500 and 12,200 if you have dually. That is the weight of the truck and it's cargo only.
The factory receiver is rated at 1200lbs tongue weight and 12,000lbs towing weight, iirc.
