I was delivering FEMA trailers down south and used a tow bar to pull my truck home once to save fuel. It cost me $12 bucks to let my truck idle while being pulled 880 miles home. I have no problems but wondered if there is any way the trans could get screwed up? I let it idle so the trans fluid would be pumped in neutral while the driveshaft was spinning. Would it be better to take driveshaft out or is it okay to do this again? Like I said I have no problems at all with trans or truck and that was 2500 miles ago.I am planning another trip though and wanted some feedback.

'95 owners manual says for a 2wd to disconnect the drive shaft from the differential if you are towing more than 50 miles or over 30 mph.
Either that or use a trailer.
With a 4wd you are supposed to put the transfer case in N, auto trans in park, don't have to drop the drive shaft.
I don't think it would be a problem for the tranny towing with the drive shaft connected if the engine is running but would be concerned about extended idling damaging the engine.
