torque plate swap lost power?
I wrote a post awhile back regarding the hp rating of a plate that I purchased off ebay. I wanted a 100 hp plate and he sent me a 65 hp plate accidentally. I know there are a lot of variables to get that hp, but these are just for reference now. The first plate had two small bumps in it one just about half way down and the other almost at the bottom. It made good power but I wanted more like any other bomber. So I contacted the seller and he traded me for the 100 hp plate that I had originally wanted. It has a 3/8 spike at the very bottom of the plate. Sorry no picture of either plate. My problem is the new plate seems to have less power than the one that I sent back. It is slid full forward and the afc is full forward also. It smokes alittle and runs at 500 degrees (post turbo). Can you guys help me figure out where the power has gone?

try sliding the plate back some; that may help. Otherwise, are you sure that all of the connections got back together correctly? Are all of the hoses connected and the fuel solenoid linkage working properly?

With some plates, especially ones with a nose (spike) at the bottom, you need to perform the Secret Governor Lever Adjustment.

If you slide the plate all the way forward you are loosing power. You need to slide it back a little to get the max power out of it. Just start playing around with the position, you will find a 
spot.

Your governor lever is llikely going under the plate and hanging up. Not good, you could even wind up bending something. It's not as likely to happen if you install the plate in about the middle of the slots where it's supposed to be.
With the correct cut of plate for what you want to do, you should never have to go much past the middle position (that's one reason why there are different cuts, rather than just sliding what you have forward).
