Good the know. Does yours work in 2nd gear as well or just 3rd and 4th. I'm really tempted to do this but need to find where I want to mount my switch with an idiot light so I don't forget to shut the thing off before I come to a stop.

Any pictures of your setup?

Thanks.

I also need to find a place for the switch.

I have decided to put the idiot light on the gauge pod. Probably on the top or middle gauge, right to the upper left of the gauge in that small space.

Make sense.

That way it is right with the rest of your gauges and right in your peripheral vision, and you already have the 12volt power there for the light.

I saw a thread not too long ago about someone that figured out a way to make it idiot proof and turn itself off. I'm still contemplating doing this but I'm concerned about the additonal stress when shifting locked up.

I put a push button switch right next to my over drive switch on the dash and then hook up an LED (the kind for car alarms) to come on when the switch is actived and mounted it so it stares me in the face when it on.

Look in my gallery, there are three ways to do this. Be warned, the simple ways will NOT automatically unlock. If you have a stock VB it will lock in ANY gear, IF the gear selector is in "D". It will not work with the selector in 1st or 2nd.

I custom built my VB so that when drag racing I get to the line, arm my switch. The truck launches and the minute the tranny hits 2nd gear it locks the converter. It was good for 3 thenths in the quarter.

Don't do this without billet shafts!!! unless you like to walk!!

Just for those reading this in the future.

https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...d.php?t=150513

Maybe it's not so good on a stock trans or at least a stock input shaft.

Bummer, I was really going to do this soon too.

That is the ultimate way to do it....for sure! Does it disengage also??
My concern was not turning it on...but remembering to turn it off!
I like an LED at eye level when it's on so you can't miss it. Almost put it right on top of the console bezel.... but settled for here...

Lights on the A pillar gauge pod works well also. I already had some LED's there, so had to go elsewhere.

I added the LED too!! NO, I skipped the unlock part!!Although-in the excitment of dyno/racing I "might" have forgotten to turn it off once!!

It won't be long in reminding you if you forget to unlock it, sure makes the truck shake.
