Torque Converter Dead. Transtar?

Good evening, guys and gals. I am having some major issues with my transmission and I need some advice. Here is the main problem and I will try to keep it short.

For a couple monhts, I noticed that my truck would hesitate between two gears (between 35-45mph). I finally took it into a transmission shop here in Tucson and the transmission is screwed!

The torque converter is finished (very low stall speeds), bands were worn out tranny fluid was foaming and a lot of the parts were burnt and fried. My truck has just over 118k. I have gotten the tranny serviced/bands adjusted every 30k miles and have a transmission temp gague whih I always monitor so I just don't understand how this could happen

The fellas there recommended me to the Transtar billet torque converter. I also was gonna do a few upgrades: heavy duty bands, shift kit, etc. I am concerned because I have not seen a lot of info out there and cannot find much about them on this site.

I need some advice before I drop $3k on this darn tranny. Thanks guys.
