Topping off Diesel

They have been running a lot of stories about people running their tanks dry because of the cost of gas. I have been taking the opposite approach. I fill mine up when it hits a 3/4 of a tank (1/4 used). I can't imagine or stomach the price if it were empty. I don't put a lot of miles on my truck. Any issues with this practice? Does the diesel go bad or get dirty? Should I be adding anything? Thanks.

I tried it all ways but it will always come out the same just a little easier on the mind to put in half or quarter tank.

I have a transfer flow 60 gallon under bed replacement tank and to fill to the tip it is just short of $280.00. What yanks my chain is that you have to do this in 75.00 increments (4) TO BE EXACT. The debit card stops at 75.00. I have called the bank and they tell me it is not them. Heck, if you're going to double the price, double the limit on a single card purchase? DUH!
Yes I know I could walk into the clerk, stand in line ,hand her my card, tell her what pump, fill up the truck, then make a second trip into the store and stand in line a second time. Doing the card 4 times is quicker and I do not have to deal with somebody who's IQ is at room temp. (Rant Over)

I always fill all the vehicles at 1/2 tank, it makes it feel a little easier on the wallet but more importantly a full tank will not gather as much condensation

Thats what I was going to Add, I never let mine get below a half if I can help it. Or I will top off if the price of fuel drops slightly. Never know, might cost a couple bucks more the next day.

Also at a 1/2 tank here. Can't stand to see it go over a hundred dollars. I also hate it when the card stops at $75. You would think they would adjust that. They are losing sales, because if it stops there I won't restart the pump I just fill up again somewhere else a couple of days later.

My feelings? I run it close to empty and put in 100 dollars (or less) at a time. Keeps the tank from running full and I don't have that extra weight (trying to save as much weight as possible). I know it's not much, but I feel better. If the price of fuel goes up .05 or .10 cents a gallon, I'm only getting a couple of 1/10th's less per fill up. 100 dollars is 20.449 gallons at 4.89 and 20.408 at 4.99. Not much difference.

Amen on that one....... I use to fill up every 2 weeks at 1/4 tank. I now fill up ever 4 weeks at 1/2 tank. This is getting rediculous.....
