Top speed eliminator w/RAD for 00-02 questions
Hey guys… So I had my local diesel shop install a BD top speed eliminator w/ RAD on Friday, and somethings not quite right.
Instructions say that when RAD is turned on by the toggle switch, my instrument cluster will shutdown and check engine light will come on. When switch is turned back off, dash instruments come back on and check engine light goes off.
My problem is that Only the tachometer turns off, and the check engine light doesn’t come on.. until after the switch is turned back off, and the light STAYS on then. even after shut down and restart. I called the shop and they said they hooked it up exactly as it said too but will take a look as soon as I can get it in, which might not be till late next week so I’m asking on here first.
I checked for codes and it’s giving me 1693 and 1694, which is high and low tach voltage which makes sense cause the TSE w/ RAD.
It’s also giving me code 1698. Anyone know that one? I can’t find what it is?
Has anyone else had this problem with this toy??

Secondary question... Im sure the 1694/94 codes will keep poppin up as long as I use the RAD toggle switch... Is it bad to alwayse have codes? Do I need to have them cleared and how would I do that?

If it is cutting the defueling it is hooked up properly. My CEL doesnt come on until after the switch is off either and it will take several cycles of the key for it to go away. Your guages dont work because it interupts the signal so it doesnt see a certain boost, RPM, and speed to cut fuel.

My Hell.. I SPEED is that your truck in the youtube link?!? Ive watched that vid a dozen times in the past. That truck is *****!!
Yea I knew it was gonna shut down my insterment cluster, I was curious to the fact that it seems only my tacometer shuts down.
And I was worried about the cel not comin on till after it was off, cause the instructions say cel will only be on while RAD toggle is on, then switch off when the switch is off.
But Its all good with the Cel huh?
One of the codes it gave me was 1698 and I cant find what that is. Anyone know?
