Well the truck finally rolled over 100K and it got me thinking I havent been carrying any tools or parts with me like I used to on my previous truck. I have mostly everything I need at home Im just thinking about when Im out on the road. With over 100K I was looking at getting a spare LP (havent seen signs of failing but you never know), a new sep belt, and an extra fuel filter. As for tools I was thinking just a simple 100 +- tool kit maybe a cheap one from harbor freight or something. So what are yall running around with? Anything I might have forgot or looked over?

P.S. almost forgot I will always have the duct tape and bailing wire with me

these trucks are so trouble free i stopped carrying tools or parts years ago.... except spare tire and lug wrench....... when i did break down (VP44) the tools i would normally carry wouldn't have been enough even if a spare VP44 would have been behind the seat

My tool box (truck box) is loaded with everything. Full sets of open/box end wrenches,full set of sockets both standard and deep well,half dozen Klein brand screw drivers,torx wrenches,allen wrenches,20 ton bottle jack,GOOD jumper cables,fuel filter socket,multi meter, complete collection of electrical connectors (butt connectors,etc), test light,crimpers,strippers,hammer,3 pound shop hammer, zip ties big and small, extra fuel filter, extra oil,good funnel, BIG set of allen wrenches I mean BIG!...There is allot more but these just came to mind.
I don't have a tool box in the garage,I just keep everything in the truck box.
I like it better because my tools are ALWAYS where I'm at. I have bailed out several friends and myself many times by having a good selection of tools on hand. The wife and I ride ATVs often and it's nice always having any tools I might need when we're out for a ride. Besides tools are cool!

You are way ahead of me. I don't even cary a spare tire as I only bought 4 37" tires for the truck. Since I did not have a spare why carry a jack so I left the jack and the lug wrench in the garage. I do carry two large Fix-a-Flat and a towing insurancejust in case.

So far with almost 20K on the clock, she has not let me down yet.

Being a mobile heavy duy mechanic, I carry enough tooling on the truck to rebuild it on the side of the road. or pretty much anything else that breaks for that matter. Included in the list, a 230amp DC / 10,000 watt ac welder/generator combo. If nothing else, I have 120/240v power available.

For parts, a 5079 filter, a stock filter, a spare walbro pump, and on occasion, a spare vp44 pump. We all know how necessary those are. 6 on my own truck, and many bunches of several on customer trucks. many on the side of the road. Full sized spare tire, various small parts.

Go prepared, or don't go at all. I still live in the land where a cell phone does you exactly no good almost anywhere.

Normally, fuel filter and a wrench to open an injector line.
Head out to no-where (No cell phone service), throw in as many tools as possible.

after reading some of these posts, i will modify mine... i do carry a fuel filter and an extra water pump w/ basic tools

X2 for me on pretty much everything you said. I've got pretty much every thing I can think I could possibly need in my tool box, and I've been glad I did on many occasions...not necessarily for me but for other people, fourwheelers, or on the job sight. I like having my tools with me at all times, and it would scare me to go on a road trip without them. I don't have hardly any tools in the garage, they're all in my truck. IMO, if you can't do basic stuff on your truck to get you home if you have to(change tire,lift pump,alternator,or anything that goes wrong that isn't major and doesn't require a ton of work) or if you have to call road side assistance any time something small goes wrong, then you should be driving a prius. Unless you're a girl. Then you should have a man that you can call to come help you out. Thats just the way I was raised, always be prepared.
