Question What tool do I need to remove tranny fill plug???? Need info fast.

Hello,

Well I need to check my 6 speed fluid level. I went out to do it and the plug is a female hex!!!! Basically it looks like a giant allen head screw head. The hex measures around 5/8" across the flats. Does anyone have any suggestions on what tool to use to remove the plug???? Thanks for the help.

Go to Autozone and get a 17mm hex head, they're about 6-8 bucks.

I made my own plug removal tool by taking a bolt with the correct size for the plug and then i put two nuts on the bolt and jamed the nuts to each other and now i have a plug removal tool. dan

Ditto on making your own from a bolt and nuts. Save the extra cash for the high priced fuel we have to buy

I love the bolt and nut idea! But I just bought the hex drive. Worked great! Thanks for the advice guys! And by the way my truck's trans fluid level was fine.
