Today at the track

Went to Bristol Drag strip tonight ran the truck twice and won both races.
1st was 15.4 with no boost luanch i raced a honda somethin or nother @ 96
2nd was 14.7 with half boost luanch i raced a acura @ 95 mph
But there was this Duramax that ran 13.9 i went over to talk with him and all he had was an intake, 5 inch single stack, boost fooler, fass, and PPE downloader (350 hp) with stock turbo and STOCK TRANNY. Man i thought no way a stock tranny could hold that much hp without slippin the tc. I think i may of had a chance to run that fast if i had turned the quad race box on but i have heard not to use it with the crazy larry 2.4.1, do you all think i could turn the quad on without damage to my truck? i would like to run in the 13s any ideas how to get me there. i been hearing about this diy cp3 mod any info would be nice.

My truck ran 13.422@100.7 with stock trans, turbo, injectors, intake, and exhaust not straight piped nor cat removed.
The quad race which im assuming is pressure only is stackable with the 2.4.1 BD since the new bd is only doing timing and duration and quad would be doing rail pressure they should stack very well together.

From what I have read here( DTR) is a T/C lockup switch is good for .3 to .4 in the 1/4.

Man, with all that trans stuff you've got!! Looks like it should hold at least some of the Quad Race box......IMHO....

Yep lockup switch was worth .4 or so in my truck and my trans has been taking a beating since may and the fluid is still decent, not saying it likes my foot at all though, as ive made more then 100 passes in it.

The way the thread show step by step on dtr is the hard way to do it mine is simply tapped into a wire on my trans sensor and ran to the cab and a resistor then the off side of my switch, and a simple ground to the on side of the switch. Lots of people run them even on their aftermarket transmissions.

I'd get billet input and flexplate and do a 15psi boosted launch...would think that would get you into the 13's....i think it was jrussel that has smarty beta 4.4, fuel pump, built trans and was in the 13's with a boosted launch....

the 350hp tune he is talking about is rated at the crank hp. his tranny is holding now but it wont forever. it will break eventually. the d-maxes are fast without a doubt, but see which truck lasts longer.

How in heck do you do a "half boosted launch"?

With your TC manually locked up in 2nd gear that 14.7 would be about a 14.3 - 14.4. A 15psi boosted 4x4 launch should get you in the high 13's or very close to it. You should go back next time the track is open and race that Dmax. Sounds like it would be a good race!

Thumbs up

With the lockup switch, do you have to turn it off for every shift or can it shift with the converter locked up?

My old truck ran 13.9 (06gmc crew cab lbz 4x4) with just the predator on 120hp and exhaust. The trans never slipped or went to limp mode and i ran that tuner for about 20k miles. Sold the truck with 36k on it. I took it to the 1/8 mile about twice a month and probably had 80-100 passes at the strip.
