Tires vs 410's
I have 4:10 gears with auto tranny and right now I'm running 285 size tires. I was thinking about going to the 315's. Good idea or bad? I don't do alot of heavy towing and would they fit without a hella lift?

I ran 315's with nothing more than a 2" front end leveling kit. Nothing else. They rubbed at full lock on the lower control arms but nothing bad. I'd definately do the 315's with the 4.10 gears.

Yea I'm turning about 2400@ 75 so the 315's should lower that somewhat

Go with em. I have 3.54s, so far the heaviest I've towed was 8,000 lbs. It is a little smokey but definitely doable. I think 315s and 4.10 gears are the perfect combo.

I'm running wild country's now which were on it when I bought it, fairly cheap tire

I agree with BigBLue
If u have 410s go with taller tires, and utilize the highway mileage, if you have 355s i dont like anything larger than a 285, yes the torque can overcome it, but anything else is a lil harder on the drivetrain in my opinion... Its great though, but i tow alot and found 285's to be perfect...

I saw a nifty set of tires the other day, and I think they're the ones for me.
Toyo Open Country M/T. It's a true mud terrain tire that comes in a 265/75R16 or a 285/75R16 both sizes in load range E. The tread is at least as aggressive as a BFG M/T, but the tread elements wrap around the shoulder quite a bit further onto the sidewall. The quality seems great, I installed a set for a customer the other day, and they balanced with very little weight. Anybody using these and have any comments?

The Pro Comps are a very quiet tire, they pick up a little noise once the sipes wear through. No wander or anything with these tires so far. They are a bit sensative, but rotating every oil change takes care of that. As far as treadwear, once the sipes were just about through they have been wearing really slow. They were almost worn through 2,000 miles ago, and I can still see some. I'm hoping they wear a little better now that the sipes are gone, because it took about 5K to wear throught the sipes. My next set is going to be the Toyos though. They should be stocking the 315s now, and I heard that they are a really stiff tire so that's also a plus.
