Tires void warrenty???

Had a friend put 315's on his stock rims, everything on the truck was stock except the tires. He has an issue the rear end...He took it end and the dealer not only denied warrenty dervice but they canceled his ENTIRE drivetrain warrenty due to larger than spec tires...He tried quoting the magnusen moss act and they basicaly laughed at him. He tried another dealer and I guess their systems are all tied together cause the other dealer said his Warrenty for drivetrain had been voided do to something like aftermarket or something...Has anyone ever ran into this. I want to get 315s but dont want to run into this same issue. BTW this same person talked to a lawyer who aggreed to send a letter but advised to take it to court and fight it would likely take a couple years and cost 10-15k.....

Tell them to stick it ! Does the tires say Dodge or Chrysler on them? No. They do not manufacter the tires. Tires are aftermarket. They can not deny warranty because of tires unless they can prove they are at fault. Do not let them get away with this. Man, I am so pi$$ed off at DC right now. I'm about 2 inched from jumping ship. Sorry to vent.

how do they think they can get away with this, I have 2 strong points that say they can't. First: lets say his truck comes with 4.11 gears, pops on the 315's and wow, effectively he has about 3.73 gear ratio, a stock ratio. Even if stock gear was 3.73 with the 315'2 the drop is to around 355 gearing. Now second point: If you can go into the ecm and program in 605 rpm for the speedo calibration to be on doesn't that mean that the system is setup for that drive combo? It isn't liike we a writing code to be able to recalibrate the speed, the ecm has it built in form their factory, thus being a viable and backed option. can see a few rant buttons going to good use here, I don't have one or I'd use it

I emailed him and asked about more about this. Seems as though he is NOT in a system to void warrenty. He took it to the original dealer he got the truck from...(about 60miles away) and they are doing the work under warrenty as we speak...I guess this goes from dealer to dealer...What a pain...I am thinking of saving and getting new rims and tires...If I need to take the truck in for service slap the stockers back on. I am not adding any other mods to the truck....I am from the school of if I broke it I will fix it..But I cant see where the 315s would have caused his problem....
Also anyone know where there is a chart that brakes down the 315/70/17 tire size to real worled (like 33/12.50) there are several tires I am looking at and was wondering cant seem to figure out how to translate it to something I can understand..

biggest thing Jim is to make sure you get the backspacing correct, 1 for clearanc3e and 2 for personal like, i like the stance ya get from the H2 setup, good for clearance and give a squat wide stance, like a pullin rig 315'2 are closer to a 35 inch tire than 33 inch and they are as big as you can go without adding clearance and still may have probllems if ya plow or rub on tight turns, mine don't touch any where but I still want to get a level kit/ taller springs/ shocks for safety clearance and big bump room.
