I have some questions about tires? My truck came with the Michelin 265's this is a good tire on the road. I work off road a lot on construction areas new neighbor hoods lots of lose dirt and medium mud. I do not want a mud tire but something more agressive than the BFG. Dunlop makes the Radial Rover RV would be a great tire for me but it is only a 6 ply tire and does not have more than about 2300 lb load range on it. Will these hold up under the weight of the CTD and a 7000 # trailer? If any body knows of something else or if this will work I would be greatly appreciative for any info.<br><br> Thanks

No.<br><br>3,000 is the minumum you'd want to get, and that is pushing it.<br><br>Best thing is to stay with an &quot;E&quot; rated tire, but you can go to a &quot;D&quot; if it will carry the same weight.<br><br>My BFG's are &quot;D&quot;s and will carry 3195 at 50psi.<br><br>I don't tow anything, otherwise I would have paid a bit more and got some PJ Dirt Grips, as they are &quot;E&quot; rated.<br><br>I will be getting PJ's next time I buy tires.<br><br>There are numerous tire threads with many good suggestions floating around here.<br><br><br>phox

Given my off road use, I have been looking into this too. My understanding is we have two &quot;E&quot; load range choices i.e. the OEM BFG Rugged Trail (NOT BFG KOs' unfortunately) or the Michelin (parent company) A/S (highway tread). There may be others I am not aware of. What we need in the OEM size &quot;E&quot; load range 17 inch is in order of my preference: Toyo Open Country A/T, Big &quot;O&quot; A/T or BFG KO A/T. I hope that one of these manufacturers gets a green tire ready for us soon. [undecided]

Thanks phox I did a little research on the pj dirt grips and it looks like a nice agresssive AT with an E load range. Just what I was looking for ;D. Do you know how many miles they will go? There is no body around me that sells them, but I found two places I can order from. <br>

I don't know how many miles.
I would assume, since they are a heavier rated tire that they are made of a harder compound, therefore should last longer than the BFG's, them being lighter so should be softer.

They are the only ones I could find that come in &quot;E&quot; ratings in larger than stock sizes,
and 17 inch versions for the '03's.

WOW PHOX I was gonna chime in and say that Nitto was making the 265 in a 17 that was an &quot;E&quot; but after I went to their website I saw that that size is one of two sizes in the Terra Grappler that is not an &quot;E&quot;.<br><br>I can't testify to the lifespan on the Parneli Jones Dort Grips but I love mine and they are wearing great. I like them so much I put them on my daughters Tahoe last week also.<br><br>Time will tell on &quot;lifespan&quot; but they are wearing great and ride awesome for 36&quot;.<br><br>They look like they should be alot noisier than they are also...

Correction it appears that the 305's are the only Nittos that are &quot;E&quot; rated according to an ad in 4Wheel&amp;OffRoad Magazine<br><br>Sorry

Super Swamper SSR's come in 35/12.50/17, 37/12.50/17, and 38/15.50/17. Not sure on load class, but they're all rated to 3,640 lbs. Hope that helps.<br>Chris

I have some SUPER SWAMPERS in 16.5's I would sell CHEAP!<br><br>Had to have them... HATED them! But man I didn't even need 4wd much ;D

with all the fuss about E load ratings, I decided to follow up on a hunch. sure enough:<br><br>-- stock 265/70 E rated michelin tires are rated at 3195 lbs<br>-- 285/70 D rated BFG AT KOs are rated at 3195 lbs<br><br>think weight in lbs, not ply rating, and you'll be all smiles! All you gotta do is jump up to a bigger size and your load ratings are solved. BTW I think the BFG MTs are similarly rated (within 100 lbs I think). <br>

Thanks for all the input. I have not yet made a decission but I have a few choices. I am leaning toward the PJ dirt grips. Very expensive but better than getting stuck in the mud.
