I'm planing on buying a 2007 2500 Quad cad 4x4 big horn within the next mouth. I will putting bigger tires on the factory set-up will 305/70 r17 fit with no lift? I will add a leveling kit later on. What will this do to fuel milage

Gettin a Dodge, Welcome to the DTR Forums, and make sure you get familiar with the search feature. I'm not being edited by admin, but this has been covered many many times. You can fit up to 35's (315x70x17's)on stock suspension. With a leveling kit, you can stuff up to 37's under there. Try the search for more helpful info on this, and welcome to DTR again.

Thanks thats what I was looking for. The 305/70 R17's should work fine.

i don't know what you are smoking but you can't stuff 37" under a leveling kit with out hacking sheet metal. The biggest you should run comfortably under a leveling kit is 33". 35" are pushing it if you plan to go any where other than the highway

You better do some research before you start shooting what someone else says down. Check out Kawiram. He's got 37's with just a leveling kit and I've seen others. Also, he said there isn't any rubbing unless you're doing some hard off roading.

i know i've seen pics of his truck, and i've seen tons of buddies running 35" and them rubbing quite abit no matter what off set rim they run. but thanks for the "correction"

They must not be running the right offset then.....

Stock wheel backspacing rubs the tires on the control arms(at full lock) and the further out you push the wheels the more they rub on the front and rear of the fender opening...


35s fit fine at stock height or even leveled. They still rub in the same spot after a 4.5" lift. You arent gaining any clearance to make them stop rubbing, or really any less after a lift.

There are plenty of guys on here running 37s with just leveling springs/spacers, or even 2.5-3" Lorenz, Thuren, KORE, setups...
Unless you are wheeling heavily out there it wont rub much, but if you do, a little fender triming is needed with any more serious offroad rig anyway....






For the original post, you should be fine with the 305s, 315s start to rub the upper control arms a tad at full lock, but I never had any rubbing other than that(with 325s) Fuel mileage might go down a tad in the city, but if you spend more time on the highway might pick up a few, the weight difference wont be as noticeable as with larger tires like 315s/325s/or the much heavier 37s...

I had two different sets of 35's on my 05 SRW 2500, stock wheels, and a 2 inch leveling kit. No issues what so ever!

Thanks for the info. I will be buying my new truck in about 5 weeks. I can't wait! I drove a Dodge 1500 Quad cab 4.7 liter gas now and pull a 30' bumper pull camper with a super slide it will be nice to get a real truck.
