Tired of the 48RE transmission not just dodge have ATS trans!!
Getting really tired of this 48RE, I replaced my first trans a 15,000 miles. Had the 1,2 1,2 shift problem and also blew out the torque converter. Did my research and bought an ATS stage 5 Transmission. has been great for 25,000 miles now the 1,2 1,2 and 2,3 2,3 shuffle shift is back. So the ATS has the same problems as the dodge 48 RE. Spent 7,000 dollar on a trans that does the same thing. little fustrated! to tired to mess with it!! i got 70,000 in the truck and putting it up for sale. only has 42,000 miles on it. selling cheap! going to buy a Ford i think. Everything eles about the truck is awesome! Love the cummins. never had a problem with the cummins EVER! sick and tired, sick and tired of these crapping transmissions!

Work your issue out guy. That dang Ford is gonna leave you stranded, you think that little shuttle shift issue is driving you crazy. The Ford will leave you stranded and make you extremely mad. Those 37"s aren't helping you either.

i used my bullydog to re-calibrate the ECM to the tires electronically. The thing is i am waiting till Monday to see what ATS has to say because it is still under there warranty. Dodge keeps saying it is the pressure seloniod, but i keep hearing stories on here that it only fixes the problem for about 7,000 miles. curious to hear what ATS has to say about it. Then i was reading a bulletin that was put out by Amsoil that says after you change the fluid or do anything to those transmissions, you have to have the dealer re-flash the TCM back to factory settings. Sounds funny to me. As soon as the rubber on my tires wear out i am going to drop down to 35's. hope that helps a little. Your saying a shift enhancer, like a shift kit? but i was thinking that since this is a performance trans by ATS is should already have that upgrade i would think. not sure tho.

If the stock gov pressure solenoid was used on a performance trans, thats likely the issue. They seem to last about 40k then start to mess up for a variety of reasons, chiefly the extra pressure they are working against. You really need one of the aftermarket solutions to addess that.
Pretty much any time you go away from stock tires, pressures, TC stall, etc, on and 05 or newer 48RE a shift enhancer is needed. It takes the place of the TV cable on the older units. This allows you to tune the shift characteristics for the setup you want to run. Since the gov pressure is responsible for controlling the shifting and the TV pressure is played against it for tuning a periodic adjustment is needed to keep things working correctly. They are not part of the trans build so you won't get it unless the builders tells you. The builder can adjust for not using it but it takes a lot more fine tuning, pls, if you change your power levels or anything else adjustments will be needed.
A lot will depend on how you drive it also. The 37" tires with 3.73 gears is just problematic and requires periodic adjustment. Got to 4.10's and it is not as critical.
DTT makes probably the best shift enhancer available and were the first to market one. TS Performance also has roughly the same type of product.

Since the 05' and up trucks use drive by wire they don't have a TV cable like was stated. They actually have a TV actuator (whatever you want to call it). The shift enhancer adjust this for proper shifting the way I understand it. You could do it with the TV cable on older trucks (mechanical) but on the new trucks it is an electrical adjustment made by taking reading from several different places and programing for the results you want.

Spooler. I just got a complete rebuild on my transmission. It is not shifting from 2 to 3 quick enough the truck kind of falls on its face just before it shifts. Will an adjustment on the TV cable fix this problem? All other shifts are fine.

Just a thought, did you have the tranny installed properly. With the proper adjustments for the TV cable/ actuator?
Reason I ask is many people install their own trannys, and do not properly adjust these then have tranny propblems within a few thousand miles. (nor do they check the adjustments after 1000miles or so).
My local Tranny Mechanic explained he has seen more then a few times, especially with the Aftermarket trannys.
Hope you get your issues sorted out.
Another thing that can kill these trannys is trying to expect to much out of them when they are not warmed up properly. Also hard on the rest of your drivline. Go outside fire the truck up back out of the driveway then mat the go pedal. This will cook a tranny just as fast especially in colder temps.

It may. Take it back to who built your tranny so they can get it right. It may be something else out of adjustment.
